Warehouse cleaning
Warehouse cleaning in Sydney, scheduled around the shift.
Warehouse cleaning in Sydney covers the floor the forklifts run on and the rooms the shift lives in, on a program that runs around your shifts and your delivery windows. Every site is scoped on the floor: how much of it there is and what moves across it, the hours the roller doors are open and where the dust lands. Star Property Maintenance has operated across Greater Sydney since 2002. It’s family owned and works through in-house teams and trusted specialist contractors, depending on the scope of each site.
Why it matters
A warehouse gets judged at the dock.
Visitors see the dock before they see the office. A driver waiting on a bay notices the diesel stains, the auditor walks the aisles before the meeting starts, and a new starter decides in the first week what counts as normal here. Dust is the slow problem in a Sydney warehouse. Spring westerlies carry it in through the roller doors, forklift tyres grind it into the sealed concrete, and by then it has been settling on the stock for a month. Safe Work Australia publishes guidance on slips and trips, and a cleaning schedule that’s written down is the simplest record a site can show against it.
We run warehouse cleaning for operations managers across Greater Sydney, as well as for the property managers who look after an industrial estate. The program follows the site: which zones are cleaned on every visit, which wait for the weekend shutdown, where a crew can work while a shift is running. For the wider estate, the commercial and industrial page covers how cleaning sits beside grounds and repairs.
What’s included
Warehouse cleaning in Sydney, zone by zone
The six zones a program covers on most Sydney warehouses, and the ones missed when the cleaner only does the office.
Warehouse floors
Hard floors scrubbed on a set round: the aisles between the racking first, then the edges by hand where a machine won’t reach. Tyre marks lift on the regular visit. The build-up inside the dock doors waits for a deep clean.
Loading docks and hardstand
The dock levellers and the truck bays are swept on the round. The ramps get a high-pressure clean on a set cycle because diesel and spring pollen on wet concrete both make a ramp slippery.
Amenities
Washrooms and the lunchroom, cleaned on every visit. A two-shift lunchroom turns over twice before midday, so it’s cleaned to a daily standard rather than an office one.
Offices and high-touch surfaces
The site office and the dispatch desk, then the touch points: door handles, the time clock, the mezzanine handrails, because that’s where a winter cold moves through a crew.
Rubbish and recycling
Rubbish removal from the dock and the lunchroom bins, cardboard broken down, the bin enclosure kept clear so the truck can get in. Stretch wrap and strapping are on every warehouse floor by Friday.
Fence line and roller doors
Weed control along the fence, slashing of the vacant lot beside it, graffiti removed from the roller doors with anti-graffiti coatings where a wall keeps getting tagged. Fencing repairs and door and lock repairs sit in the same program.
Periodic work
Presentation cleans before a client audit or a lease inspection. Vacant property cleans and make-good works at the end of a lease. Deep cleans after a fit-out. Each is scoped as the site needs it, and the commercial cleaning page covers the office side of the same program.
How it works
How a program starts
01
Walk the site
We walk the floor with you during a shift so that we see the site the way it runs: where the forklifts turn, where the dust lands, which door the drivers use. The scope comes from that walk.
02
Set the windows
Each zone gets a frequency and an access window. The office is cleaned while the shift’s on, the floor after the last truck, the dock on the weekend shutdown. It’s written down before the first visit so that dispatch knows who’s on site and when.
03
Clean to it
Depending on the scope and location of each site, the program is worked by in-house teams and trusted specialist contractors. The scope doesn’t change with the roster.
04
Review when the site changes
A new tenant in the next unit, a second shift through the Christmas peak or a wet autumn tracking mud across the dock: the program is reviewed with you, and the consultation is free.
Frequency
What’s cleaned each visit, and what waits for the shutdown
The split below is where most sites start. A site running two shifts moves the floor scrub up, whereas a single unit with one roller door runs lighter.
Every visit
The rooms people use.
- Lunchroom and kitchen bench
- Washrooms, down to the floor drain
- Door handles and the time clock
- Handrails and the staff entry
- Site office and dispatch desk
- Bins emptied and cardboard flattened
Weekly
The floor and the dock, while the trucks are gone.
- Hard floors machine-scrubbed between the racking
- Dock face and levellers swept
- Entry mats lifted, because the grit under them scratches the office floor
- Mezzanine stairs and landings
- Bin enclosure cleared
Monthly
What slips when nobody’s looking.
- Tyre marks lifted at the turning points
- Ledges and the lower beam faces dusted
- Lunchroom fridge emptied and wiped
- Roller doors and boundary wall checked for tags
- Weeds along the fence line
Quarterly
The shutdown jobs.
- High-pressure clean of the dock and the ramps
- Hardstand pressure cleaned where the trucks queue
- Deep clean of the floor edges and the ends of the racking runs
- Washroom descale, because Sydney water leaves its mark
- Presentation clean before the audit or the lease inspection
- Slashing of the vacant lot before fire season

Why Star
One contractor for the whole site.
Star PM has operated across Greater Sydney since 2002, and it’s family owned. Commercial cleaning is one of its three streams. The other two streams, grounds maintenance and handyman and property maintenance, look after the yard as well as the repairs a warehouse collects: a bent fence panel, a roller door lock, a wall that needs painting after a forklift clips it. In practice, one contractor on site means one schedule and one person to ring when the dock looks wrong on a Monday morning.
Warehouse cleaning
Common questions
Can you clean while a shift is running?
Yes, for the zones that suit it. The office and the amenities are cleaned around the people using them, but the floor scrub waits for the gap after the last truck or for the weekend shutdown. Which zones fall where is set when the site is walked.
How often does a warehouse floor need scrubbing?
Weekly on most sites with forklift traffic, and more often where the dock opens onto an unsealed yard or the site runs around the clock. A floor that’s only swept builds a grey film, and the film ends up on the stock. The frequency is set on the walk-through and reviewed whenever the traffic changes.
Do you look after the yard and the repairs as well?
Yes. Grounds maintenance and handyman and property maintenance are the other two streams, so weed control along the fence or slashing of a vacant lot can sit in the same program as the cleaning, and so can fencing repairs or a roller door lock. Graffiti removal is in there too, with anti-graffiti coatings where a wall keeps getting tagged.
